Aten Mosaic

My name is Elizabeth Aten.

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to visit some amazing mosaic sites in Italy.  I have always been  inspired by this ancient art and I was completely captivated after my first basic class at my girlfriend Cherie’s home. 

I grew fond of the almost extinct art of mosaic and was inspired to create myself.

My mosaic art is inspired by nature and people. It is self expression of my inner being, feelings and events in my life. 

My artwork continues to evolve and change just like life itself.

I use mixed media: marble, glass, smalti, minerals, recycled materials, found objects, ceramics, porcelain and more. 

I love to play with colors and textures. The creative process is very therapeutic and I can’t imagine a more involved, detailed or satisfying effort. 

I am a member of the Society of American Mosaic Artists.
